ELEVATOR OPERATOR

TV Girl is a relatively recent band based in Los Angeles. Despite being a lesser known group in the indie scene, last year it released a promising second studio album titled 'Who Really Cares'. It has a distintive dreamlike sound that is very pleasant to listen to. Out of all the songs in the album, Taking What's Not Yours is the most fun and, in my opinion, the best track.

Beck is one of the most important indie artists of all time, as well as one of the most prolific multi-instrumentalists. This year he released his thriteenth studio album with a very upbeat sound. Although it is by no means his best work, it does not disappoint. It has his trademark psychedelic sound mixed with some pop overtones that create a fresh new record. Square One is one of the best tracks on the album.

Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett is one of the most talented  new artists in the indie scene as of right now. She's an exceptional guitarist as well as an ingenious lyricist. This year, she released an album with Kurt Vile called 'Lotta Sea Lice' which is getting rave reviews. However, her 2015 album 'Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit' remains her best work yet. Elevator Operator is the energetic opening song of this album.

Real Estate has managed to stay relevant since its very first album back in 2009. The band is known for its simple, clean sound that is often associated with American suburbia. In one of its well reviewed albums, titled 'Days', the band offers its classic melodic and calming sound at its impeccable best. The most popular song of this albums is It's Real.

No Vacation is an unique case of an outstanding college band. Both of its members were just nineteen when they released their first and only album back in 2015. That same year, the pair released an EP with three dreamlike songs. Out of the three, Dræm Girl was the most succesful. It has their distintive surf-rock  and nostalgic sound at its best.

Grimes is unlike any other artist working today. She has one of the most unique pop sounds and an otherworldly aesthetic. In her album 'Art Angels' she succesfully blends electronic with pop music, separating herself with the more experimental sound of her previous albums. However, it is nevertheless strange, unique, powerful and infectious in all the right ways. California is one of the great, upbeat tracks of this album.

Air is a critically aclaimed french electronic duo with a long career of lounge-sounding albums. They're known for the soundtrack of Sofia Coppola's 'The Virgin Suicides', but their discography has a lot more to offer. Moon Safari is their debut album and remains one of their best. It is sure one weird collection of calm, melodious songs or, as we like to call them, elevator music, but it does have charm. One of its best tracks is All I Need, which is, hands down, one of the most relaxing songs I've ever heard. It is more than perfect for lazing on a Sunday afternoon.
